Frequently Asked Questions

  • How can I manage Active Sync alerts for a multi-location business?

You'll only be able to see and use the 'Alert Inbox' tab if you have purchased Active Sync. Find out how you can purchase 'Active Sync' here.

Once you've purchased 'Active Sync' you'll be able to see the 'Alert Inbox' tab in the ‘Locations Overview’ dashboard.

In the 'Alert Inbox' tab, you will find a table of all of the alerts for all of the Locations that you have set up Active Sync for.

Here's a quick rundown of what each column in the table means:

Location: this is the name of the business or Location that the alert is for.

Listing: this shows you the platform that the alert is about, i.e Facebook, Google Business Profile, etc.

Date and Time: this is the date and time the alert was created.

Change Detected: tells you the change that’s been detected.

Actions: this is where you can either accept or reject the change that’s been detected using the appropriate buttons and see what actions you took on previous alerts.

Using the search box, search for the business by the business name, and all of the alerts for that business will appear.

Accept and reject the changes that Active Sync has found for the business using the ‘Accept’ and ‘Reject’ buttons.

Then move on to the next change that’s been detected and either accept or reject it using the buttons.

To see the detected change in situ, click the blue arrow icon in the 'Actions' column and it will take you to the listing.

Once you’ve made your way through all of the changes and either accepted or rejected them, click ‘Save and Sync’ to save your actions.

  • How to schedule posts with GBP Post Scheduler

Login to your account and click ‘GBP Post Scheduler’ from the top menu. You’ll see a list of all of the Locations that you have purchased GBP Post Scheduler for.

To schedule posts you’ll need to connect the Location to their Google Business Profile (GBP) account which you can do by clicking the ‘Connect to GBP’ button and following the instructions here.

Once the GBP account is connected you can start posting.

Click ‘View’ and then ‘Create New Post’.

You have the option to create three different types of posts:

    • Update
    • Offer
    • Event
    • Screenshot

Enter the required information and an image that will help your post to stand out. You’ll receive a notification on-screen if the photo you upload isn't the right size or resolution.

If you need help writing a description for any type of post you can generate content using AI. Simply write a prompt in the description box (such as: write a description for 50% off offer), and click the ‘Generate content using AI’ button. Make sure you read through the copy that appears and make the necessary edits.

You can use the AI content generator 50 times per day, per account. We will tell you how many uses you have left and when you run out we’ll also let you know the number of hours left until you can use it again.

To preview your post hit the ‘Preview’ button. Once you’re happy with the post, click to schedule it or post it straight away.

If you choose to schedule it you can choose a date, time, and timezone for your post to go out.

Back in the GBP Post Scheduler dashboard, you’ll see any posts that are currently live, scheduled, expired, and rejected.

Live = any posts that are currently live and viewable in your GBP.

Scheduled = any posts that are scheduled to go live in the future.

Expired = any event or offer posts that have expired.

Rejected = any posts that Google has rejected. Google can reject any posts that don’t meet their guidelines

To only see any of these options rather than all of them at once, click on the tabs at the top of the page.

  • Can I get a ranking report emailed to me?

Yes, absolutely. When you schedule a weekly or monthly ranking report, you can specify up to five email addresses to receive the report.

The email will contain links to view the report online, or to download a CSV or PDF.

You don’t need to be logged in to your BrightLocal account to download the reports, but you do need to be logged in to view the online reports, as that links to your account.

Email addresses can be added within the ‘Edit Report’ settings, which can be found by clicking the ‘Actions’ cog in the top right-hand corner of the report, and selecting ‘Edit Report’ from the dropdown menu.
